Headway SELNWK is a charity dedicated to the support, advocacy and awareness of the ongoing needs of individuals who have experienced acquired brain injuries (ABI). We have two exciting full-time opportunities to join our expanding Social Rehabilitation team across the Abbeywood, Bromley and Deptford service areas.  We are looking for motivated and dynamic individuals who will support our clients to achieve their full potential and satisfaction in participating in society. Whether you wish to pursue a career in the health or social care professions or have a genuine enthusiasm to support those on their road to independence from an ABI, we would like to hear from you. You will be working in a key-worker role with support from the Social Rehabilitation Manager and team to deliver individually tailored one to one and group activities to our members. Previous experience of rehabilitation is not crucial as ongoing support, training and supervision will be provided to ensure the applicant acquires the requisite skills, although a willingness to develop is essential. As you progress you will have the opportunity to provide support to the volunteers, students and other supporters of Headway SELNWK.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Social Rehabilitation Team to develop the Headway SELNWK Social Rehabilitation Service.
  • To key-work for a defined caseload of adults with complex ABI using evidence based practice, rehabilitation processes and client-centred principles.
  • To carry out assessments, reviews, evaluations and identify goals with clients (in conjunction with the Social Rehabilitation Manager/ Co-ordinator). 
  • To participate in the delivery of: therapeutic programmes (individual and group) and; outcome measures that support all clients within the services of Headway SELNWK.
  • To plan, run and evaluate group activities.
  • Participate in the identification and resolution of daily operational issues arising within the Social Rehabilitation Service.


Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Commitment to promote the full social participation of individuals with disabilities.
  • Level 2 in Health and Social Care, or willingness to work towards this qualification.
  • Ability to use initiative, learn quickly and work with different individuals.
  • Good written and verbal communication.
  • Effective IT skills
  • Sensitivity and well developed interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a team

Desirable:

  • At least 2 years experience of working with people with a relevant client group (e.g. brain injury, learning disability, adult mental health).
  • Awareness of the immediate and long-tem personal consequences of brain injury
  • Developed listening, reflective and advocacy skills.
  • Experience of working with people with communication and cognitive difficulties.
